The role of the Junior/Asst Specialist is to both assist with ongoing experiments and depending on the candidate’s skill level, to conduct independent laboratory research under the guidance of Dr. Chou and other laboratory members within the Chou Lab. The Specialist will learn and utilize a variety of research techniques and have the opportunity to be a co-author on publications.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
• Performing a range of molecular biology techniques, including but not limited to molecular cloning, DNA and RNA isolation, and protein expression analysis.
• Performing flow cytometry and immunohistochemistry.
• Performing knock-down experiments using shRNA and CRISPR-based techniques.
• Performing gene transfer studies using lentiviral infection.
• Culturing T cells (or other immune cells), cancer organoids and established cancer cell lines.
• Assisting with mouse colony management, including setting up breeding, weaning, tagging and PCR genotyping.
• Performing mouse procedures such as tumor xenografting, IV/IC/IP injections
• Conducting xenograft studies and pharmacologic experiments in mice, including utilizing immunotherapies such as bispecific T cell engagers and chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells.
• Assisting with lab maintenance duties.
Required qualifications:
• Applicants need to be self-motivated, fast learners, critical thinkers and enthusiastic about science and medicine.
• Applicants need to work well as part of a team and have outstanding written and oral communication skills.
• Specialists appointed at the Junior rank must possess a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) or at least 4 years of research experience (e.g., with instrumentation and research equipment or research methods).
• Specialists appointed at the Assistant rank must possess a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or five years of experience in the relevant specialization.
Preferred qualifications:
• Prior independent research experience.
• Experience with molecular biology and biochemistry techniques, cell culture, gene transfer studies, and/or managing a mouse colony.
• Preference for the Junior Specialist role may be given to applicants interested in pursuing a biomedical sciences PhD or MD/PhD.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for initiating, designing and executing an independent project under the guidance of Dr. Chou. In addition, the Postdoctoral Fellow may assist with teaching and mentoring technicians and students. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be expected to i) apply for independent funding from both intramural and extramural sources, ii) participate in grant and manuscript writing, lab meeting and journal clubs, and iii) author and/or contribute to publications. Postdoctoral Fellows interested in both academic and industry careers are encouraged to apply.

Required qualifications:
• PhD (or equivalent) in cancer or cell biology, tumor immunology, molecular biology or a similar field
• Self-motivated, fast learners, critical thinkers and enthusiastic about
• Work well collaboratively and as part of a team
• Have outstanding written and oral communication skills, and open to learning new skills.
Preferred qualifications:
• Experience with analyzing large omics datasets and programming (R or Python)
• Background in mouse models and any immunotherapy modalities
• High-impact and high-quality publications from graduate school
• Independent postdoc research funding
